Istanbul is a major city in Turkey that straddles Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus Strait. Its Old City reflects cultural influences of the many empires that once ruled here. In the Sultanahmet district, the open-air, Roman-era Hippodrome was for centuries the site of chariot races, and Egyptian obelisks also remain. The iconic Byzantine Hagia Sophia features a soaring 6th-century dome and rare Christian mosaics.
I really enjoyed the whole experience. At the beginning, it felt like there was a lot of information to take in, but gradually I got the hang of it. That said, I believe the course could benefit from some adjustments to better suit the online setting. For instance, when disconnections happen on the teacher’s side, that time shouldn’t count as part of the class—this wouldn't be the case in a face-to-face session. Also, students often join from unstable connections (like on the metro), and they come and go during the session. There should be clear instructions for students about when they can join, especially after the first 30 minutes. On a positive note, I really loved using Moodle and appreciated how organized and user-friendly it was.
It was a great experience. Really intense indeed but at the end it was worth it.
Taking the CELTA course at ITI Istanbul was an incredible and unique experience. The tutors were highly supportive, accessible, and flexible. I had the privilege of learning from truly wonderful tutors who guided me throughout the course and provided detailed, constructive feedback that was both insightful and enlightening.
