Istanbul is a major city in Turkey that straddles Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus Strait. Its Old City reflects cultural influences of the many empires that once ruled here. In the Sultanahmet district, the open-air, Roman-era Hippodrome was for centuries the site of chariot races, and Egyptian obelisks also remain. The iconic Byzantine Hagia Sophia features a soaring 6th-century dome and rare Christian mosaics.
Taking the CELTA course at ITI Istanbul was an incredible and unique experience. The tutors were highly supportive, accessible, and flexible. I had the privilege of learning from truly wonderful tutors who guided me throughout the course and provided detailed, constructive feedback that was both insightful and enlightening.
I'm quite satisfied with my experience. The OCT was always flexible and considerate of everyone's schedule for the live sessions. She is very knowledgeable, and her insights will stay with me throughout my future career. The TP tutors were also supportive, kind, and patient, and they provided us with valuable positive and constructive feedback.
My overall experience on the course was very good and truly beneficial. I learned many new things about teaching, including how to make lessons more student-centered, how to use different interaction patterns effectively, and how to create a positive and engaging classroom environment. The course helped me reflect on my teaching style and gave me practical strategies to improve my lessons. I feel more confident now in planning activities, managing classroom interactions, and supporting my students' learning in a more meaningful way. Before this course, I was an amateur in teaching, mostly following the traditional way of teaching where the teacher did most of the talking and students were passive listeners. I wasn’t fully aware of the different teaching techniques that could make lessons more interactive and engaging. This course opened my eyes to more modern, student-centered approaches that encourage participation, communication, and collaboration among learners. It helped me shift from a teacher-led method to one where students are more involved, active, and confident in their learning process.
